I am not a writer. I have not attended college and I could not get an "A" in Junior College English 101. And what little samples of writing I am going to send you here are so roughly written and structurally unsound they will be hard to read in that sense. But I am hoping that you see the other positive aspects to this story that I mention.

Since I posted my writing samples last week on the Los Angeles Area Craigs list I have received over 120 responses ( almost every one positive in some way ) with only 10 or so of these appearing to be desperate people wanting some quick cash with offers to ghost write or co-write this story with me.

I am encouraged mostly with the almost constantly repeated comments from these respondees that they were touched in some way while reading the short rememberances that I shared. This ranged from "strong laughter" to "a little crying" to "just plain fun to read."

And of course I feel I have something here because I am as blindly biased as probably 28 million other wanna-be writers are , especially about there own incredibly "unique" personal life story. But I'll let you decide if this is more the case than not.

7 SONS ... AN AMERICAN FREE FOR FALL

Basically this would be a first person account of what some may see as a typical rough and tumble childhood / coming of age experience shared by millions of other American children during the 1950's and 1960's.

The reason I have always felt that this particular story was much more compelling and dramatic and attractive were these unique aspects of it:

It involved a family of 7 sons ( no daughters ) and also a cast of some of the most colorful and vivid and almost unbelievably eccentric accompanying characters in very unusual and interesting settings.

I also hope that I have related these few episodes in at least a clear enough way that you do see and feel the uniqueness, the powerful poignancy and emotional compellingness, the colorful characters and even the often side-splitting hilarious side (yes, there are many even in this often heavy true-life tale)  to this story that I have always believed is there.

Many of the responses to my posting seem to be from very qualified writers. At least their level of advice and particularly appropriate suggestions seem to indicate this. And almost all have been filled with great feedback with logical and encouraging suggestions about book readings, structural advise, etc.
