God said:

There are two things that you spend your life on. They are ghosts of the past and your toted-along image of yourself. Therefore, whatever occurs in your life, it is yourself you are dealing with.

It is very hard for you to let go of the past. You are dealing with it all the time, even when you are not remembering and reworking it, because the past is also cast in your image. How you see yourself and the world is past-imaging propelled to the present where it gets locked-in, and you really don’t see anything as it is but rather as it once was or was thought to be.

Your mind interprets. It judges. It pulls parts in and pushes parts out. You have been very selective of what you allow in, but once allowed in, you find it difficult to let it go.

What if you are not what you have thought? What if all the conclusions you have drawn are ill-concluded? What if you hold on to old thoughts about yourself and won’t let them be shaken?

Accept that you are My favored child, and that battered battling disgruntled image of yourself is false and nowhere near the truth of you. You have patterns in your life that need to be broken. Habits of thinking. Habits of seeing. Habits of need. You have distorted yourself.

Often you say you would like to start anew. Often you say, If only I knew then what I know now. Wishing is staying in the past too.

Relive your life now. From this moment on, see afresh. Consider that you have just arrived on planet Earth today, and you have been welcomed with fanfare and leis. All on earth have waited for you to arrive, and they greet you now with smiling faces. They want your life experience to be beautiful. They want you to smile back.

You scoff at this thought, but My words make you think how you have been looking at earth and life on it. You have been looking at it as a trap. You have looked at it as a crazy unwelcoming unloving dangerous place. How important are your thoughts. How important are they to you and to the world. Change your thoughts, and you will change the world. The world is made of your perceptions. You have misperceived the world, and the world has misperceived you. All together you have misconceived the world.

The world is a concept you have made. And each generation has purchased the concept generations before purchased and remade.

Now focus on the strains of good that have always enlivened the Earth. Focus on the beauty. Focus on the sweetness of life. If all thoughts of the cruelty exposed in the world were stopped, cruelty itself would stop.

You are more important than you know. You alone, by your thought, can uplift the world. You have been discouraging it, so why couldn’t you uplift it?

Why couldn’t you be the beautiful flower that blooms in a cranny? Why cannot your smile be the one that broadens across the horizon of Earth? Why cannot you be the one who raises a sword of light that covers the face of the land? Why cannot you be the igniter of love that travels the world? Why can you not be that which you are?

Only your thinking holds you back. Most assuredly, you need to be a bigger thinker. Embrace the world with your new thinking. Be an upholder of truth and not a disguiser of it.

All the effort you have put into being what you or someone else thought you should be, and all along you needed only to be what you were in the first place.

But you can be it now. Today be My child as I made you. Set forth on a journey of love that others can follow. All you need to know, you already know.

God said:

Are you aware of how tightly you hold on to what is not for you to hold on to? You try to hold people to you. You try to keep them in place. But people are travelers in their own lives. They rest when they rest, and they move on when they move on. You do not try to keep them by force of your will. They are their own being. They play a part in your life as they will, on stage one moment, off the next.

People in your life are like dance partners. They bow in and out of your life anyway. You might as well set them free.

You have this great tendency – even an urgency – to hold people to you. You may not wish to embrace them steadily, but you want them to always be there for you.. You still think other people have something to do with you.

You are not a hunter who captures others as though they were prey. You are one who sets all free. You hold no locks or cages. Your key to friendship is to let everyone go their way.

Demand nothing of others. You certainly don’t demand them to stay. They are not your property. They are not subjects in your domain.

When it is hard for you to release others from your life, then the thing to do is to release them to Me. Visualize your putting their hand in Mine. And then you leave. You walk away to seek your own good fortune and to see whom or what enters your life next.

You are not dependent upon the companionship of others as much as you tend to think you are.

Sometimes you wrap yourself up in others’ frailties. You would like to embed yourself in others’ lives, but you can only be embossed. You are not any more integral to their lives than they are to yours.

Yet how you want to keep everyone and everything in place. You want people where you put them and you want them to stay there until you want them again. You want them to be what you want when you want.

But they do not want to do your bidding any more than you want to do theirs. They don’t even know what your bidding is. You may not really know.

But you know My bidding. I bid you to free all in your life. Now is a good time to release all those you try to keep who may wander off somewhere else from time to time or altogether. You do not commandeer someone else’s life. Release them from this imposed bondage to you. Free everyone.

Look, you are all wanderers. You go here and there, and you don’t even know why or when. Wherever you were a moment ago, you just know where you happen to be now. How you got here is a slight mystery, and it is not one you can solve in this dimension.

In another dimension, there is nothing to solve.

All meet, and all partner, and all leave, and all meet again. There really was never a parting, and there never was a meeting, for all are One with Me. You are One with Me.

Heavenletter #580 You and God -- God’s Light

God said:

When you meet with someone, the outcome is not what you are meeting for. All the outcomes, all the reasons, all the goals are merely excuses for the God in you to meet the God in someone else. All occasions are excuses for Us to meet. All the rest is palaver.

You bring something to the table. Deals are not the extent of what you bring. I am what you bring.

I am the gift you give all you meet. Remember this, and your life becomes significant. You give Me silently. You cannot hand me over as some brightly-wrapped package. You don’t exactly slip Me under the table either. I am a silent presence that you acknowledge to yourself. To yourself you say:

"God comes with me to this table. I am in the mighty presence of God. Now I no longer pretend to be other than what I am. I am not so much a deal-maker as a God-giver, God-allower, God-blesser. God has sent me here to meet Himself.

"The moment I enter a room, God is here. Wherever I turn, God is. I am in the mighty presence of God.

"This does not mean I put on good behavior. It means I take off past assumed behavior. I take off my cleverness. I become I AM.

"I am not an accumulation of something. I am not my reputation. I am not rich man, poor man. I am not seller, buyer. My world identity is not my identity. It is not my being. God is my Being, as I am His.

"Without effort, I cast God’s light. Indeed, effort has kept me from portraying God’s light. With effort, my attention is elsewhere. Effort and awareness of God’s presence are incompatible. All my effort does not cancel God, but it cancels My awareness.

"That I deliver God in some way to whomever I meet is my reason for being. Outcomes are not. I shed a little light on God by revealing His light as it shines forth through me.

"This is such a little thing for me to do, to radiate God’s light. All it takes is My intention, My willingness, a little of My acceptance of this as my due process.

"How often I have forgotten what I am here on earth for. Now I take a breath and remind myself Whose breath I breathe. I am a breath of God. I am the love of God. And I am His beloved given to His beloveds.

"When I remember My mission on earth, barriers evaporate. They were never there except as I saw them. I saw barriers in proportion to how I forgot God. It is utterly amazing that I have spent so much of my life forgetting God when I could have just as easily thought of Him and His goodness. Oh, I have exalted fear and stress. I have bowed down to them. I have lain in wait for them. I have promoted them, advertised them, revered them.

"Now I let awareness of God sink into me, and so my awareness reaches everyone.

"God wants me to light this room for Him. He has asked me to be His light on earth. If I am in a dark dank prison, I am still the light He has sent. If I am in a palace, I am still the light He has sent. Whatever the window-dressing, I am a pure being of God’s light sent to emanate the light and to kindle it in others. I am a light-bringer."

What I made you of and why I made you are the same. From My light I made you so that I would be revealed on earth.
