New Writing Ventures

Act fast if you want to submit your work for these Prizes, as the closing date is 31 May 2006.

New Writing Ventures is an annual series of major national prizes and awards for emerging writers in poetry, fiction and non-fiction, launched by The New Writing Partnership. They are designed to provide 'a substantial platform for emerging writers'

The Prizes are for writing aimed at adults from writers who are resident in the UK and have not had a dedicated publication of the their work in the form of a novel, collection of stories or poems.

The winner in each of the three categories - fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry - will receive £5,000, and two shortlisted writers in each category £1000 each. All the winners and shortlisted writers will receive a place on the year-long Ventures Development Programme, which includes individual mentoring, workshops and professional advice.
The submission closing date is 31 May 2006.

The shortlisted authors will be announced in July 2006 and the winners in September 2006.
