Daily Mail First Novel Award
The Daily Mail and Transworld Publishers have joined forces to launch this new prize for a first novel. Closing date 2 July 2007 Open to all residents of the UK and the Republic of Ireland over the age of 16. The prize for the Daily Mail First Novel Award will be a publishing contract with Transworld Publishers, a division of Random House UK, and an advance of £30,000. Transworld will publish the winning work in the spring of 2008. Submissions are invited of a complete novel in the English language of no less than 80,000 words and no more than 150,000 words, together with a synopsis. The involvement of the Daily Mail is likely to ensure that the Prize will be well-publicised. Transworld is one of the most successful commercial publishers in the UK.
