The Biographer's Club Prize
The Prize was established in 1999 to finance and encourage first-time writers researching a biography. It is unusual in that it is open to previously un-published or un-commissioned writers for a proposed biography. Entries should consist of a 20 page book synopsis giving the author's cv, a note on sources, the market and competing literature and a synopsis of each chapter together with a sample ten pages from a completed chapter. The judges for the 2005 Prize are Robert Lacey, Caroline Moorehead and Miranda Seymour. The prize, which is sponsored by the Daily Mail, is worth £1,000 and has usually led to a publishing deal.
